Today was our first time out of San Jose. We took a bus ride to Cartago, Costa Rica. Cartago was the old capital of Costa Rica. It was damaged by earthquakes quite a while ago and some "ruins" still remain. It sits at the bottom of Volcan Irazu, which we were going to journey to today, but did not end up having time.
Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Los Ángeles
I was told that Señora de Los Ángeles is the patron saint of Costa Rica.
There are also "ruins," Santiago Apóstol Parish Ruins. It is actually an unfinished building that was damaged in the earthquake and then they decided to not finish it.
