Today was our first time out of San Jose. We took a bus ride to Cartago, Costa Rica. Cartago was the old capital of Costa Rica. It was damaged by earthquakes quite a while ago and some "ruins" still remain. It sits at the bottom of Volcan Irazu, which we were going to journey to today, but did not end up having time.

I was told that Señora de Los Ángeles is the patron saint of Costa Rica.
There are also "ruins," Santiago Apóstol Parish Ruins
. It is actually an unfinished building that was damaged in the earthquake and then they decided to not finish it.
